The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said the US administration had offered to provide Ukraine with up to $1 billion in sovereign debt guarantees to support reform efforts.
“The US authorities are offering Ukraine sovereign loan guarantees of up to $1 billion to support its economic reform program and continue engagement with the International Monetary Fund,” the Secretary of State said in a statement, TASS reports.
Blinken said that Washington’s proposal, combined with “strong partnerships between Ukraine, the IMF, other international financial institutions” providing assistance to Kiev, will help strengthen “Ukraine’s ability to ensure economic stability, growth and prosperity for people.”
Recently, Western politicians and the media have been accusing Russia of preparing an “invasion” of Ukraine while continuing to supply Kiev with lethal weapons. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly stated that Moscow moves the military exclusively on its territory and does not threaten anyone.
