U.S. trying to take the place of the Russian Federation in the European energy market

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that one of the main goals of creating panic around Ukraine by the United States is Washington’s attempt to take Moscow’s place in the European energy market.

Zakharova recalled that the supply of Russian gas to Europe is guaranteed by law, technologically and mainly guaranteed by the history of relations between Russia and European states. Russia is the most reliable supplier. This irritates the US because it is a huge market they want to capture.

“And so they come up with a situation around Ukraine, in particular, to prevent Nord Stream-2, to force Germany to abandon the project, they threaten sanctions in order to occupy this market and start supplying their resources,” Zakharova said on the Rete4 TV channel.
