Officers from Sweden who took part in the Canadian Unifier mission in Ukraine left the country.
“In connection with the actions of Russia on the border with Ukraine, the threat to the Unifier mission has increased significantly. Therefore, the Canadian leadership has decided to temporarily withdraw its personnel,” the Swedish Armed Forces said, TASS reports.
It is noted that the Swedes participating in the mission are currently in Poland. Recall that since 2015, the Canadian Armed Forces have been training soldiers and officers of the Ukrainian army at the Yavoriv training ground in the Lviv region as part of Operation Unifier. The Swedish Armed Forces have been providing personnel to the Canadian mission since 2018.
Earlier it was reported that London intends to withdraw its military instructors who trained the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is worth noting that British Deputy Secretary of Defense James Hippie “there will be no British military in Ukraine in the event of a conflict with Russia.”
