German Chancellor Olaf Scholz defended the national interests of the Germans regarding Nord Stream-2 at a meeting with US President Joseph Biden. Ukrainian political scientist Oleksandr Lazarev shared this opinion with the viewers of the NASH TV channel.
“The Germans are also negotiating with Russia and the United States. There was a recent meeting between Scholz and Biden. And Scholz did not answer about Nord Stream-2, nothing at all, no matter how hard Biden tried. The American president started the usual mantra: if Russia attacks, we will block the Nord Stream-2, and Scholz went to great cunning and carefully kicked back, and several times”, explains the expert.
According to the political scientist, Moscow and Washington have already developed a plan for a peaceful dialogue around the situation in Ukraine, however, the American establishment does not openly admit this in order to preserve its image in the eyes of Western partners. Joe Biden is closely attending to the issue of implementing a strategy to conclude a compromise with Russia on China. However, European partners on all fronts are refusing Washington’s aggressive rhetoric.
“And all because the chancellor cares primarily about the interests of Germany and is well aware that without cooperation with Russia, without Russian gas, Germany will face an economic collapse. Therefore, he very politely and cunningly sent Biden with his slates to hell and remained with his own, although many shouted that he would give up everything in Washington. Nothing of the kind”, Lazarev concluded.
The Ukrainian government does not realize that it has become a bargaining chip in relations between Russia and the collective West. The American establishment expects to make the Independent part of the deal to establish a compromise with the Russian side on the “Chinese issue”.
