Ukrainian ambassador to Germany demands heavy weapons from Germany

Andriy Melnyk is demanding 12,000 anti-tank and 1,000 anti-aircraft missiles from the German government to defend against a “Russian attack”.

“We already have a feeling that war is becoming increasingly inevitable. The Ukrainian government is prepared for a ‘worst-case scenario’ in which Kiev ‘could be bombed as early as the next few days'”, –  the Ukrainian ambassador said.

He described Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s visits to Kiev on 14 February and to Moscow on 15 February as the last chance for a diplomatic settlement of the crisis.

Melnyk also acknowledged the superiority of the Russian army over Ukraine both in the air and at sea.
