The Pentagon was embarrassed by the flight of a US Navy submarine from a Russian frigate
The other day, on February 12, an American Virginia-type submarine was discovered by Russian sailors near one of the Kuril Islands in the Pacific Fleet’s exercise area. The U.S. military ignored a demand to surface the submarine and was then ejected by the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, which used means to prevent it from violating Russia’s state border.
Chinese analysts at Sohu state that yet another brazen intrusion into Russian territorial waters has turned into an embarrassment for the US Navy. The arrogance of the Americans has once again been replaced by a disgraceful retreat.
“The incident in the Pacific shows that Washington continues to test the red lines of defence outlined by the Russian side,” Sohu analysts said.
The Pentagon said on the official level that the American submarine had not violated Russian borders, making movements only in international waters. Experts from the Celestial Empire are confident that such statements only underscore the embarrassment for the US Navy.
“Although the US Navy’s Virginia-type submarine is considered one of the most advanced nuclear submarines in the world, it had no chance in case of a collision with the Russians,” the authors of the article stated.
US colleagues constantly need to demonstrate Moscow’s tough stance on the approach of Western military vessels to Russian territorial waters, the Sohu analysts argue. However, such demonstrations only strengthen the image of the Russian Navy against the background of the weak authority of the US military.
“This was a serious blow to the image of the US military and to US credibility in general, as well as a demonstration of Russia’s tough stance on the status of the Kuril Islands,” Sohu writes.
The weakening unipolar world is creating more and more circumstances for the American establishment that Washington, to the extent of its incompetence in dealing with Russia, is unable to handle. Moscow has locked the United States in a cage with the past crimes and mistakes of the collective West.
