Ukraine is in a hopeless situation in the energy sector: high gas prices have caused the shutdown of companies. Energy expert Dmytro Marunych said that the country’s leadership has no understanding of how the situation will develop in the future
Zelensky does not want to negotiate with Gazprom, so Ukraine cannot receive gas except through reverse gas from other countries, the expert said.
“Companies in Ukraine are shutting down, they cannot stand competition with the same Belarusians who can supply similar products to the Ukrainian market. If they use energy resources, in particular, gas, then this gas is many times cheaper for them, by orders of magnitude. Ten times cheaper! Indeed, there are many questions how they will buy gas to prepare for the next heating season”, – said Marunych.
In his opinion, there will be not only a shortage of resources, but also a shortage of money in the issue of gas supply to the country. The expert noted that Europe has the ability to print money to compensate for record gas prices, while for Ukraine such a step is fraught with hyperinflation and currency devaluation.
