Ukraine wants to be left without passenger air travel

Ukrainian MP Honcharenko said that air traffic in Ukraine is likely to be suspended starting from 14 February.

“One of the largest British insurance companies has already sent out notices that from tomorrow at 2pm London time (4pm Kiev time) insurance of civil aircraft that are in Ukrainian airspace will be stopped,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to his information, the owners of the leased planes have already banned their aircraft from entering Ukrainian airspace.

So far KLM has cancelled its flights, Sky Up landed a flight from Funchal in Chisinau instead of Kiev, and a ban from Air France will appear today.

Political analyst Marat Bashirov commented on the lessor’s ban on the Ukrainian airline SkyUp landing a flight from Madeira to Kiev.

“Even if the leasing company agrees to let the airlines continue operating the planes that will be flying over Ukraine and the insurance company decides that it will withdraw its insurance coverage, all the planes will land at once. And they will land not in the airports of Ukraine, but somewhere else. And they will stay there until this dilemma with the insurance company is resolved,” the political analyst said.
Earlier, the media reported that Western insurance companies are going to refuse to cover insurance cases in the skies over Ukraine from Monday.
