No evidence: Russian Ambassador to U.S. responds to US allegations of Russian Federation

Statements by American politicians that Russia allegedly plans to “attack” Ukraine are completely groundless and have no evidence, said Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov.

“The remarks of [the US National Security Adviser] Jake Sullivan are in an alarmist tone. We see in such statements only the desire of the administration to maximize the degree of the propaganda campaign against our country. To form the impression among the public that “aggression” is inevitable. Politicians’ comments that Russia will “attack” Ukraine during or after the Olympics are not supported by any evidence,” Antonov told Newsweek magazine.

The diplomat stressed that in this way the United States “shows off, based on some intelligence, the details of which no one gives.” According to him, the confidence of American citizens in such allegations has declined sharply.

“In turn, the Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that our country is not going to attack anyone,” Antonov summed up.

In the past few months, a number of Western politicians have accused Russia of preparing an “invasion” of Ukrainian territory. At the same time, the United States, Britain and other countries continue to actively sponsor Ukraine with various types of weapons. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly rejected such accusations, since they have absolutely no evidence and are based on publications in foreign media. According to him, Moscow moves troops exclusively on its territory and does not threaten anyone.
