EU allowed some diplomats to leave the territory of Ukraine

The European Union allowed employees of its diplomatic mission in Ukraine who are not involved in “particularly important processes” to leave the country. This is reported by the newspaper Politico, referring to the representative of the EU foreign service, Peter Stano.

“At the moment, non-essential personnel have been given the opportunity to leave the country (Ukraine). We continue to assess the situation as it develops in line with our responsibility to care for our employees. The Foreign Service is in close cooperation with the EU member states,” Stano said.

The head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Matti Maasikas, in an internal letter to the staff of the department, called on all foreign workers, with the exception of the main staff, to leave the country as soon as possible.

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, the decision to evacuate the employees of diplomatic missions is premature, since official Kiev sees no “objective and real” grounds for this.
