Kiev’s confrontation with Moscow has cost Ukraine $280 billion in unearned GDP since 2014, according to a report by the Center for Economic and Business Research commissioned by the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers.
“Losses in the Donbass, where the conflict continues, total up to $102 billion, or up to $14.6 billion annually. It is clarified that the loss of Crimea in 2014 led to the loss of up to 8.3 billion dollars by Ukraine annually,” the Center’s experts said, Interfax reports.
In their opinion, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia led to a significant decrease in investor confidence in the country’s economy, which caused Kiev to lose $72 billion of investments, or up to $10.3 billion annually.
“At the same time, the constant decline in exports has led to a total loss of the country in the amount of up to $162 billion over the period from 2014 to 2020. The amount of lost tax revenue for the period from 2014 to 2020 is $48.5 billion,” the report says.
