Russian Ambassador to Germany told about certification process for Nord Stream-2

Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev said that the certification of the Russian Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline will be resumed in the near future.

“We expect that the certification procedure for Nord Stream-2 will resume in the near future and will be of a professional, non-politicized nature. The gas pipeline operator Nord Stream-2 AG has created a subsidiary in the German jurisdiction of Gas for Europe GmbH, provides the Federal Network Agency of Germany with the necessary documentation,” the diplomat said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline was built from the coast of Russia to Germany across the Baltic Sea. Its total capacity is about 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The process of certification of the pipeline is currently underway.

It is expected that all procedures will be completed by the end of the first half of 2022, as Gazprom has complied with all the requirements of the German regulator. In accordance with the laws of Germany, Nord Stream-2 AG has established a German subsidiary, Gas for Europe GmbH, which will become the owner and operator of the 54-kilometer section of Nord Stream-2 in German waters.
