“We believe there is still time and space for diplomacy,” the US DOD official stressed, commenting on the situation around Ukraine. According to Kirby, Washington assumes that Russian President Vladimir Putin “has not made a final decision”. “Nobody, with the possible exception of Mr Putin, wants to see any military conflict erupt in Europe. So we are acting very cautiously,” Kirby said.
According to the politician, the US is trying to achieve de-escalation of tensions and a diplomatic way forward.
