Russia’s permanent representative to the UN in Geneva, Gennady Gatilov, has said that Russia has no intention to “invade Ukraine”, because it does not make any sense
“Perhaps Western officials and analysts get lost in deciphering quite unambiguous statements of the Russian leadership. So I repeat: Russia has no plans to invade Ukraine and has never done so. There is no motive or geostrategic objective. And most importantly, there is not even a hint of common sense, because Russia has always advocated and continues to advocate equal, mutually beneficial and pragmatic relations with all countries, not only with its neighbours,” the ambassador stressed.
Gatilov also recalled the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who had earlier said that “if it depends on Russia, there will be no war”.
We shall remind you that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Pankin said earlier that the announcement of arms deliveries to Ukraine was a clear attempt to exert additional pressure. Russia will use diplomatic methods to resolve the situation.
