Germany treats Ukraine like Somalia – Ukrainian ambassador

Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk said that the FRG provides Kiev with financial support comparable to Somalia or South Sudan

Nevertheless, the diplomat said that Kiev also appreciates such assistance from Germany.

“Only everything is relative, and if you look at how much development assistance we received from Germany, Ukraine ranks 13th after Congo and before Tunisia”, –  Melnyk lamented.

As a reminder, Berlin has allocated Kiev 771 million euros for development in all recent years. Melnyk regularly makes dubious statements. For example, he has said that Berlin should help Kiev return Crimea to “control”: in his words, this is Germany’s moral obligation stemming from its “eternal historical responsibility to Ukraine for the Nazi tyranny”. He also said that the same “historical responsibility” obliges Berlin to push for Ukraine’s accession to NATO
