Ukrainian Foreign Ministry denies that Nord Stream-2 caused disagreements between Kiev and Berlin

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reacted to rumors about the real reasons for the cancellation of the meeting between German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Oleg Nikolenko, spokesman for the department, denied on his Facebook page that this was due to disagreements over the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. This is reported by the publication “Strana.ua”.

In his message, he stated that nothing “can drive a wedge into strong relations between Ukraine and Germany.” According to him, rumors that Zelensky did not meet with Burbock for political reasons “are not true.”

Baerbock arrived in Kiev yesterday, February 7th. She was scheduled to meet with the president, but in the end it did not take place and the minister met only with her Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba. Negotiations with Zelensky never took place. At first they said that the reason was errors in the schedule, but then rumors appeared that everything happened because of disagreements between Kiev and Berlin on the issue of Nord Stream-2.
