The United States sees the Russian Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline as the only tool they can try to use as leverage on the Russian Federation.
Political scientist Andrei Nikulin commented on the meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron on the air of the TV show “Time Will Show”. Nord Stream-2 was among the topics discussed by the heads of state, the FAN newspaper notes.
“Russia defended itself like a turtle with missiles and nuclear weapons, but for a strange reason it threw out a painful offshoot (we are talking about a gas pipeline), which Washington wants to hit,” he said.
Washington tried with all its might to disrupt the construction of Nord Stream 2, and now it is trying to delay its launch as much as possible. At the same time, Europe indulges the Americans in many ways, but forgets that the project is beneficial to it as well. It is SP-2 that can become the salvation of the European Union from the crisis in the energy market.
