Macron held telephone consultations with Biden before trip to Russia

French President Emmanuel Macron is going to visit Russia on February 7 and meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. And before that, he decided to consult with US President Joe Biden.

He called him on the phone and discussed the situation in Ukraine with him. This was told by the press service of the White House, according to Strana.ua. Representatives of the administration revealed some details of their conversation.

Biden and Macron spoke of “the ongoing diplomatic efforts and efforts to contain Russia.” It is allegedly building up military power on its borders. In the future, they plan to continue consultations on this issue.

The motives for these negotiations are quite transparent: Macron checked the guidelines that he should adhere to during his diplomatic tour. Today, February 7, he will arrive in Moscow and hold talks with Putin. And tomorrow he will go to Ukraine and talk with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
