Biden and Scholz plan to discuss Nord Stream-2 and the situation in Ukraine during the meeting

The US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a meeting at the White House intend to discuss the preparation of sanctions against Russia, Nord Stream 2 and the situation around Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports.

“The two leaders have a very busy agenda. We expect that they will pay considerable attention to the situation around Ukraine and Russia. They are likely to discuss mutual concerns about the buildup of Russian forces on the Ukrainian border, a shared commitment to continuing diplomatic efforts to encourage Russia to de-escalate, and measures to deter further Russian aggression,” U.S. administration officials told reporters.

In the past few months, European officials have regularly stated that Russia is allegedly preparing to launch an “attack” on Ukrainian territory. According to experts, such statements are being used as a pretext for deploying more military equipment of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov stressed that Moscow moves troops exclusively on its territory and does not threaten anyone. According to him, the statements of the Western media and officials are a deliberate escalation of the situation.
