German Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht has said that the federal government has long had a clear position – they are not supplying weapons to crisis zones in order to prevent further escalation there
“In the Ukrainian conflict, we have negotiating partners who have come back to the table – for example in the NATO-Russia Council and in the Normandy format. Our task now is to de-escalate. We want to resolve this conflict peacefully”, – Lambrecht said.
We shall remind you that last April Germany refused to transfer to Ukraine demining equipment, corvettes, elements of anti-ship systems and air defence systems.
At the same time, Lambrecht did not rule out sending additional Bundeswehr soldiers to Lithuania.
