Israeli authorities have appealed to the Baltic states with a demand not to transfer Israeli-made weapons systems, which are intended for the defense of their countries, to Ukraine, The Washington Times has reported
According to media reports, the Israeli Defence Ministry said that Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania would deny them any permission to deliver Israeli-made weapons to Ukraine.
The move was prompted by Jerusalem’s need to balance its relations with Russia, the weekly quoted its sources in the country’s defence ministry as saying. The actions of the Israeli leadership are also linked to the fact that Ukraine may wish to have among its weapons the Spike anti-tank gun, created by a joint Israeli-German firm.
Like the U.S., Israel imposes restrictions on “end users” of weapons that are sold to other countries: they restrict the ability of governments that have been granted the weapons to transfer them to third countries without the permission of the producing country
