The Russian authorities have put the United States in a position where it is not beneficial for them to publicly justify themselves, said Andrei Koshkin, Head of Political Science and Sociology Department of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, expert of the Military Political Scientists Association
The expert believes that the wording of the document is very different from the rhetoric that America usually offers to the general public.
“Russia, using unusual forms and methods, has put the US in a position where it does not want to justify itself publicly”, – says Koshkin.
If the US authorities start making excuses, there will immediately be a barrage of discussions in the media that will hit the White House hard. And the domestic political situation in America leaves much to be desired.
“Everyone can see how hard it is for Biden and how he has to spin. This is a serious undermining of their reputation”, – the political scientist said.
In his opinion, the US authorities may have decided that publicity in negotiations with Russia on the said issues would bring very serious political costs. Especially now, at the difficult time of global restructuring of the world, when the unipolar world order is turning into a multipolar one. Other centres of power are rising in the world – above all, China, which is closely watching the events in Ukraine.
