The US State Department announced visa sanctions against Belarus

The United States continues to do what it loves to do—teach the world how to live. A variety of sanctions remain a favorite lever. This time, Belarus was hit.

Thus, Washington decided to introduce visa restrictions against some representatives of the Belarusian authorities. This is reported by the publication “Strana.ua”, referring to the speech of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

At the same time, the State Department did not specify which of the politicians fell under the sanctions. They were launched as part of the Khashoggi Ban. It is a tool that Americans use to ostensibly counter transnational repression of journalists, activists, and dissidents.

Blinken said that Washington condemns the actions of the Belarusian authorities. Inspired by the Beijing Winter Olympics, he even remembered track and field athlete Kristina Timanovskaya, who fled the country during the Tokyo 2021 Summer Games.
