Ukrainian industry will die without Russian gas

Ukraine needs direct supplies of Russian gas. Kiev needs a contract with Gazprom, as it simply cannot afford to buy fuel in Europe.

This point of view is shared by Ukrainian economist, co-chairman of the Energy Strategies Fund Dmitry Marunich. During a speech on the Nash TV channel, he said that gas prices in the EU are very hard on the Ukrainian economy, Izvestia reports.

In addition, Marunich noted that as a result, the cost of fuel worries not the authorities, who refuse to solve the existing problem, but consumers. It is their pockets that are hit by the irresponsibility and carelessness of the authorities.

The expert said that Ukrteplokommunenergo is already complaining about Naftogaz. He refused to increase the volume of gas supplies at a fixed price of 7.42 hryvnia (about 20 Russian rubles – ed.) per cubic meter for the needs of the population. This seriously threatens Ukrainians, who may be left without heating.

In addition, Ukraine’s industry is also in danger. It is already suffering because of gas prices, many enterprises are working at best “to zero” or are closed altogether. From this, the budgets in the regions, which largely rely on local production, will experience a shortage.
