The armed forces of Ukraine will not have enough capacity to defend Odessa in the event of a full-scale armed conflict with Russia. This opinion was expressed by experts from the Chinese edition of Sohu, reports PolitRussia.
“If Ukraine still dares to start a war against Russia, it will be opposed not only by the ground forces of the Russian army, assembled near the Ukrainian border right now, but also by six large landing ships of the Russian Navy, which left the Baltic Sea last week, after which they went to the exercises in the Mediterranean”, the experts of the publication noted.
Sohu recalled that the 28th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is currently deployed in the village of Chornomorsk on the outskirts of Odessa, although over the past eight years it has been involved in the frontline zone of Donbass. In addition to T-64 main battle tanks and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, it also has various self-propelled artillery mounts, towed anti-tank guns and BM-21 Grad rocket launchers.
“The Russian army can land almost anywhere on the Black Sea coast of Ukraine. And it will be practically impossible for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to cope with this – today its air defense system, which consists entirely of obsolete Soviet-made installations, is too nondescript and ineffective”, Sohu stressed.
Also, Chinese experts noted that in the event of full-scale hostilities, the Ukrainian ground brigade should not rely on help from other military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to analysts of the publication, this means that Ukraine could lose Odessa in a couple of days.
