The US administration has appealed to the largest buyers of gas in Asia with a request to reduce fuel purchases. The reason for this was the fear of the United States that Russia could limit the supply of blue fuel against the backdrop of the situation with Ukraine, Interfax reports.
United States President Joe Biden’s team, led by State Department energy security adviser Amos Hochstein, has made a similar request to gas consumers around the world. In particular, Washington is actively negotiating with China, Japan, South Korea and India.
“The volumes of gas needed by the EU cannot be replaced by anyone unilaterally, without disrupting supplies to other regions of the world. The energy security of Europe requires the collective efforts of many parties,” Qatari Energy Minister Saad bin Sherida Al-Kaabi said, Bloomberg writes.
In turn, representatives of the Russian company Gazprom stressed that Moscow would under no circumstances violate the previously reached agreements on gas imports, and also recalled that the Russian Federation has always been a reliable supplier of energy.
Recently, foreign media have been massively replicating information that Moscow is allegedly preparing an “attack” on Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly denied such accusations. The Kremlin spokesman stressed that the Russian Federation moves troops exclusively on its territory and does not threaten anyone.
