New sanctions restrictions against Russia by the UK may affect the assets of Russian energy companies, The Times writes.
“Sanctions, implying an asset freeze and a ban on entry into the UK, will apply to individuals and legal entities of strategic importance to the Russian authorities,” sources in the British Cabinet said.
On Sunday, January 30, British Foreign Secretary Elizabeth Truss said that London intends to introduce new sanctions restrictions against Russia in connection with the situation in Ukraine. It is worth noting that in parallel with the threat of sanctions, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the visit of Truss and Defense Minister Ben Wallace to Moscow would help “improve relations” between Moscow and London.
Senator of the Russian Federation Alexei Pushkov noted that sanctions only make sense when they are a threat. According to him, after their application, the second party “accepts them as a reality.”
