Russian Federation Council told who is interested in the anti-Russian campaign in Ukraine

The United States, Great Britain and Canada are setting the tone for the anti-Russian campaign in connection with the situation around Ukraine, while each country pursues its own goals, said Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev.

“Apparently, raising threats about Russia’s allegedly imminent attack on Ukraine is becoming more and more a purely Anglo-Saxon affair. It is the UK, the US and Canada that are setting the (very hysterical, I must say) tone of the campaign about the sanctions that threaten Russia,” the politician wrote on Facebook.

“In general, all three have a common interest – to present the situation as pre-war, Russia – aggressive, themselves – united and effective against the threat. And the more we say that no one is going to attack, the more noise about what consequences this attack will have”, – said Kosachev.

According to him, with a certain development of the situation, this can be considered a good sign, because they need to show that Russia was scared, and they saved the world. And President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky may finally receive a signal that it is possible to do without provocation, and this is the main thing for today, the senator added.

“Let’s say that Canada simply became a hostage of its own pro-Ukrainian policy, which was formed 50-60 years ago (that’s right, Bandera’s people from Ukraine mainly draped to Canada). And her diplomacy in this direction has not shown signs of life for a long time,” – he wrote.

According to the legislator, for Britain, supporting a high degree of Russophobia is a matter of principle, London believes that if it is the most active anti-Russian player in Europe, this will “increase its significance as a global player and set it off against the backdrop of an increasingly stammering European Union.”

“Hence the increasingly formidable sanctions threats amid simultaneous proposals for negotiations with Russia – they say, you want to reduce tensions? Talk not only (or even not so much) with Washington. Cynical, but typical of Britain,” Kosachev said.

“In the United States, of course, there is also a question of principle – any disagreement with US policy must be nipped in the bud. And that’s the point. But, on the other hand, there are also quite specific interests, like those that the American military-industrial complex lobbies at the Capitol. For example, the withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan is an unfortunate circumstance, but against this background, the prospect of a military conflict in Europe looks very tempting,” the senator said.

So when Zelensky complains to the United States that they have already gone too far with the pre-war propaganda campaign, which may already result in losses for the Ukrainian economy, he simply does not take into account that if it has gone somewhere, then it will definitely arrive somewhere, Kosachev explained.

“But, in any case, let’s hope that the Anglo-Saxons will soon play enough intimidation and move on to victorious reports on the topic -” Moscow retreated “. This is still a less bloody option compared to a provocation in the Donbass,” he concluded.
