Nuland angered Berlin with a proposal to supply alcohol through the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline

The statement by US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland about Nord Stream-2 offended the German authorities, PolitPuzzle reports.

Victoria Nuland, at a recent press conference, allowed herself inappropriate comments about the Russian Nord Stream-2 pipeline project. So, according to her, the gas pipeline has not yet passed the certification process, but it would be “good” if vodka, and not an energy carrier, began to flow through it to Germany.

German political expert Alexander Sosnovsky, on the air of the Soloviev LIVE YouTube channel, expressed the opinion that such an odious trick by Nuland offended Berlin to the core. According to the political scientist, American representatives only bring Germans and Russians closer.

“The Germans have a habit of looking at what the first people say, but when second-row people like Nuland allow themselves this kind of joke, in Germany it is perceived at best as confirmation of incompetence, and at worst as a direct insult,” Sosnovsky noted.

Apparently, the Russian side can partially thank Washington for accelerating the stabilization of relations between Moscow and Berlin. The US establishment’s disrespect for its European counterparts dooms the US to a split in its alliance with Europe.
