The cunning of Rome will force Italy’s European partners to bite their elbows, PolitRussia reports.
Observers of the Chinese edition of Sohu believe that Italy has bypassed Europe by signing a long-term contract with Gazprom for the supply of Russian gas at “friendly” rates. The special status of Rome in the eyes of Moscow was achieved by the special position of the Italians in relations with Russia.
“When Europe and Russia quarreled over various issues, Italy rarely made tough remarks and mostly turned a blind eye to it,” writes Sohu.
Italy’s unwillingness to join the general anti-Russian hysteria has, as a result, paid off. Rome’s partners in the European Union will not be able to get such a contract from Russia for the export of energy resources at prices below spot prices for a long time to come. The reason for this is the aggressive rhetoric of the West towards Moscow.
“From this point of view, Ukraine should learn from Italy to maintain friendly relations with major powers,” the article emphasizes.
It is known that the Ukrainian government today was created on the basis of opposing itself to the Russian side. A similar trend over 8 years has led the country to political, cultural and economic degradation.
Earlier, News Front spoke about Kiev’s recognition of Ukraine’s not soon joining NATO.
