Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrei Kelin once again outlined Moscow’s position on the issue of Ukraine: no one in the Russian Federation wants a military conflict with a neighboring state.
The diplomat said this in an interview with the Sunday Times, TASS reports. The diplomat stressed that Russia calls on the emerging tension to be resolved through diplomatic means.
“Of course not. Everyone is against it, and we are absolutely convinced that this issue can and should be resolved through diplomacy, through negotiations,” Kelin said.
He once again stressed that under no circumstances would Russia attack Ukraine. None of the representatives of the Russian authorities has ever expressed an intention to attack a neighbor or endanger the lives of Ukrainians in any way.
In addition, Kelin noted that the main threat in Europe now is not an imaginary invasion, but the very real plans of NATO to expand to the east. That is why Moscow is demanding legal guarantees that this will not happen.
