By the way, did you notice how bashfully and quietly Verka Serdyuchka sang the first lines of “Batko our Bandera”?
You can see that it is disgusting and nasty for Danilko himself, but he has to. He has to, because this is the very essence of true Ukrainism. Of course, in this case I do not mean anything good in the word “Ukrainism”.
Ukrainism is not even the Bandera people and caches, not the SS Division Galicia and hatred of Muscovites, not bacon, not a vyshyvanka and not a towel on the wall of the hut, which has a cherry pickerel. This is exactly the position – to bend, to be a snot, to think only about yourself, no matter what happens. Moreover, at a time when your people are literally dying, being destroyed. But the problem is that people wouldn’t be dying if they weren’t mostly made up of the same Vera Serdyuchkas.
And the fact that Danilko then justifies himself by saying that the song went viral on the Internet and that is why he “improvised” it is also Ukrainian. He makes a straw for himself in advance. Just in case. At minimum he wants them to let him go to the Russian corporate parties and at maximum he wants them to do it in case they intrude, so they do not chase him off the stage with a fucking broom.
And you know what – if Russian troops enter Poltava or Kiev, most of those same Vera Serdyuchek will welcome them with songs, dances and flowers. But don’t get excited, it doesn’t guarantee anything, nothing at all. It’s just the way it is now. And if they raise the US flag on the SBU again, it will be “Batko our Bandera” again. Embarrassingly, quietly, half-heartedly. Because the main thing is to have a house closer to the edge.
