The different views of the U.S. and Ukrainian administrations on Russia’s alleged preparations for an “invasion” have caused growing tensions between Kiev and Washington, CNN reported
According to CNN, U.S. President Joe Biden and his aides have expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the fact that Ukrainian authorities are allegedly downplaying the threat of a Russian “invasion” and “accepting support from the United States without much gratitude.”
“Our question is, why are you trying to quarrel with the United States? Why are you allowing leaks and distorting information while the U.S. remains virtually the only real friend you have? And why ask for additional weapons if you say that the threat level has not changed?”, – said the TV channel’s source among high-ranking U.S. officials.
For its part, official Kiev is of the opinion that Washington is “overreacting to the current situation, sowing panic and making a mess of Ukraine’s economy. Earlier, the office of President Vladimir Zelensky said that the U.S. could have imposed sanctions against Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline rather than limiting itself to “constant verbal warnings of imminent war.”
Recently, foreign media have been massively circulating information that Moscow is allegedly preparing an “attack” on Ukraine. Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly denied such accusations. The Kremlin spokesman stressed that Russia was moving troops exclusively on its territory and was not threatening anyone.
Representatives of the Russian embassy in the United States stressed that the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine by Washington provokes the Kiev authorities for forceful adventures against the residents of the Donbass republics.
