Military bases in Canada: political expert reminded Americans of the sad experience of burning Washington

Placing Russian military bases in Canada will remind the United States of their place, political scientist Yevgeny Satanovsky shared his opinion in an interview with PolitRussia.

The other day, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev stressed that Russia has no plan to deploy missile systems in Cuba or Venezuela in connection with the principles of the Russian Federation that contradict this.

“Cuba, Venezuela are countries close to us, our partners, countries that pursue an independent foreign policy. But these are absolutely sovereign countries. We cannot place anything with them, simply because it should be consistent with their geopolitical positioning, with their own national interests,” Dmitry Medvedev said.

Geographical proximity to the United States does not make Cuba or Venezuela the only suitable region for Moscow’s pressure on Washington’s aggressive rhetoric. Political scientist, orientalist Yevgeny Satanovsky notes that in the world there is an ideal country in terms of geographical location for the deployment of Russian hypersonic weapons.

“The question of deploying military bases abroad should be asked to Shoigu, Putin or Lavrov. For me, the best country to host Russian military bases is Canada. Washington is not far away”, the political scientist explains.

The political scientist determined the special role in choosing Canada as the location of Russian military bases due to historical events that connect the region with the United States. We are talking about the Anglo-American War of 1812-1815, during which the British Empire devastated Washington.

“There is an experience when in 1814 the British from Canada captured Washington and burned it down. It evokes pleasant nostalgia for the good old days. Let’s place it in Canada, I don’t mind,” Satanovsky summed up.

Moscow’s preventive measures may force Washington to recall the tragic events of past years. The current precarious position of the American establishment in the geopolitical arena proves the lack of past influence among the Americans, however, the aggressive rhetoric of the United States persists.

Earlier, News Front spoke about the evasion by the US authorities of responding to Russia’s ultimatum.
