U.S. State Department plans to pay $6 million for “evidence” of Russia’s possession of chemical weapons

The US State Department has offered a monetary reward for information about Russia’s possession of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), writes RT.

US authorities have promised non-profit organizations and activists who discover shipments of weapons of mass destruction or dual-use products $2 million. Another $4 million has been pledged to develop a database to counter Russia’s work in this direction.

“Programs called “Counteraction to the harmful influence of Russia” and “Counteraction to Russian chemical and biological threats” started at the same time on the Grants.gov online platform. Candidates from 18 European countries, as well as from the CIS and Baltic countries are considered. Applications from Russian organizations are not accepted,” the portal reports.

According to the founder of the Public Committee for the Detection of Foreign Intervention, Alexander Ionov, part of the funds may fall into the hands of legal entities that will “produce fakes about the use of weapons of mass destruction by Russia” on them.

The expert added that in the future this false information will become part of the general report of Washington and will be classified.

“And when the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) or other international institutions ask: “Prove Russia’s involvement,” the Americans will refer to amendments to the Constitution that prohibit disclosing data obtained by special units,” Ionov emphasized.

Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin officially announced the destruction of all stockpiles of chemical weapons back in 2017. The Ministry of Industry and Trade officially reported on the destruction of the last stocks of this type of weapon. However, the United States continues to accuse Moscow of failing to comply with international obligations.
