Senator of the Russian Federation Alexei Pushkov noted in his Twitter that the statements and threats from official London neutralize the meaning of the visit of the head of the United Kingdom Foreign Ministry Elizabeth Truss to Moscow.
“Given the statements and threats coming from London, the meaning of the possible visit of the British Foreign Minister to Moscow is less and less clear. The repetition of already sounding threats will not move the talks anywhere. But there is no public signal from London to the contrary. Why and who needs such a visit?” Pushkov said.
Earlier it was reported that British Foreign Secretary Elizabeth Truss plans to visit Kiev next week and meet with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba. In addition, Truss intends to visit Moscow in February for talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The British Foreign Office stated that Moscow is allegedly considering the possibility of bringing a government loyal to the Russian Federation to power in Kiev. In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry called on London to stop provocative activities and blame Moscow for the escalation of the situation in Ukraine.
