Germany to send 5,000 helmets to Ukraine instead of weapons

Germany plans to provide Ukraine with five thousand military helmets. This was announced by German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht, writes DPA.

“I can confirm that we have completed the verification of the request of the Ukrainian side and were able to confirm the delivery of five thousand helmets. I can’t tell you about the timing yet”, Lambrecht said during the briefing.

As previously reported, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the German government has a clear position on the issue of arms export supplies, according to which Berlin will not supply lethal weapons to Kiev. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock also opposed the supply of weapons to Ukraine, which caused a wave of indignation from the Kiev authorities.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk said that Berlin completely ignores the interests of Kiev. Earlier it became known that Germany had vetoed the shipment of weapons from the East German army from Estonia to Ukraine, which greatly outraged the United States.
