The Pentagon says it is putting its military at home and abroad on high alert amid a Russian military buildup near Ukraine
“NATO allies are placing forces on alert and deploying additional ships and fighter jets to NATO deployments in Eastern Europe, strengthening the alliance’s deterrence and defense assets as Russia continues to build up its military presence in and around Ukraine”, – the Pentagon said in a statement posted on its website.
The US defence ministry noted that no decisions had yet been made on transferring additional troops to Europe from the USA.
