US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken visited Ukraine ahead of a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, fulfilling specific objectives
The US establishment seems to have realised the loss of its influence on the geopolitical map amid Moscow’s hardline stance on NATO expansion eastwards. Several recent negotiations have shackled Washington’s usual aggressive rhetoric, as evidenced by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s urgent visit to Kiev ahead of his trip to Moscow. Political analyst and State Duma deputy Anatoly Wasserman believes that during his stay in Ukraine, Blinken explained to the Kiev authorities the precarious position of the Americans in the Ukrainian issue.
“Experts believe openly: the economy of the USA itself is now in such a state that it will suffer more from restrictions than we do <…> Blinken, stopping in Kiev on his way to meet with Berbok, did not promise the leaders of local terrorists not only military support but also concrete ways of economic pressure on us”, – the expert writes.
During the meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the White House representative was forced to say to the head of Ukraine that Washington has no effective methods of influencing Russia without harming the Americans themselves. Kiev’s anti-Russian authorities were left alone with Moscow, which is expectedly tired of tolerating the aggressive rhetoric of its neighbour.
Earlier, News Front reported on the US authorities’ intention to send a military contingent to Europe because of the situation in Ukraine.
