The U.S. President Joe Biden held a meeting with representatives of the US administration who are responsible for national security issues and discussed the crisis in Ukraine with them.
“Today, President Biden met at Camp David in person and virtually with his national security team to discuss Russia’s ongoing aggressive actions against Ukraine,” the White House said.
It is noted that the American leader was informed about the current state of “Russian military operations”, which are allegedly carried out “on the border with Ukraine.” Biden discussed with the national security team efforts to “de-escalate the situation through diplomacy, as well as a range of containment measures that are closely coordinated by allies and partners.”
“President Biden reiterated that if Russia makes a further invasion of Ukraine, the United States will ensure swift and harsh consequences for Russia along with our allies and partners,” the White House said.
In recent months, Western media have been circulating reports that Russia is allegedly preparing an “attack” on the territory of Ukraine and is gathering troops to the borders. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed that Moscow is moving troops exclusively on its territory and such reports are “empty and unfounded escalation of tension.”
Earlier, the US State Department published a bulletin titled Fact and Fiction: Russian Disinformation on Ukraine. In turn, the Russian Foreign Ministry strongly denied all accusations and refuted Washington’s fantasies outlined in the document. According to the official representative of the department, Maria Zakharova, the State Department bulletin was formed on the basis of separate stories taken out of context, and approaches attributed to the Russian Federation that have nothing to do with reality.
