The Wall Street Journal reports tensions between NATO partners.
In a joint statement on Friday, the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania announced they would supply Ukraine with anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles so that Kiev could defend itself “in the event of a possible Russian attack.” At least in the case of Estonia, this project may fail – because Germany is preventing a NATO ally from doing so, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Unlike the US, UK, Poland and other allies, the German government refused to supply arms to Ukraine.
“Our restrictive stance is well known and rooted in history,” Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock said in Kiev on Monday.
