The Nord Stream 2 pipeline must be certified as soon as possible, Germany needs it
This was stated by Prime Minister of the Federal Land of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Manuela Schwesig on January 20.
At a meeting of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, Schwesig opined that Berlin needs to focus on dialogue and interaction with Moscow.
“I hope for a quick legal procedure so that the pipeline can be put into operation. I firmly believe that we need this pipeline through the Baltic Sea”, – Schwesig said, as quoted by Die Zeit.
And Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s Minister-President said the gas supply from Russia would enable a transition to renewable energies.
“Gas is needed as a source of energy at least for the transition to renewable energies in order to have reasons to move away from nuclear and coal-fired power”, – the politician concluded.
