Official London informed the staff of the British Foreign Office about the need to prepare for a possible transition to a “crisis mode”. The reason was the fear of an escalation of the situation in Ukraine, writes Bloomberg.
An agency source said department officials were briefed about a possible “crisis mode” this week. Its introduction will mean that diplomats will be transferred to work on policy towards Russia and Ukraine so that the UK can respond as quickly as possible to the situation.
“This is the most important work to build and protect our European region. Some employees are already being transferred to work on contingency planning, including the imposition of sanctions”, a Bloomberg source said.
The Russian side has repeatedly rejected accusations from the Western media, which circulate information about a possible “attack” by Moscow on Kiev. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Russia is moving troops within its territory and does not threaten anyone.
As News Front previously reported, information about a possible “attack” by Russia had a negative impact on Ukrainian Eurobonds. A massive sale of Eurobonds may lead to an early default in Ukraine.
