Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Alexander Grushko told the Kommersant newspaper that the North Atlantic Alliance knows perfectly well what military-technical measures Moscow will take if NATO abandons its requirements for security guarantees.
“We are not threatening anyone. Our position is absolutely clear and predictable. And we clearly stated it, now we are waiting for the same honest reaction. NATO is well aware of what kind of military-technical measures the Russian side can be talking about. We do not hide our capabilities, we act very transparently,” Grushko said.
According to the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, specific measures will depend entirely on what military potentials will be used against Russia. Grushko stressed that Moscow will decide to continue the dialogue with the North Atlantic Alliance after it receives “written answers to the written proposals” of the Russian Federation.
In December 2021, the Russian Foreign Ministry published drafts of a treaty with the United States on security guarantees and an agreement on measures to ensure the security of Russia and NATO member states. In January of this year, negotiations were held between the Russian Federation, the United States and the Alliance.
