British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said that the London authorities would not send British troops to help Ukraine under any circumstances.
“We will always consider all options, but I will be honest – Russia has the largest armed forces in Europe, and Ukraine is not a member of NATO. I think it would be a false hope to say that the British armed forces will be unilaterally sent to Ukraine in order to join forces with Ukrainian troops under the current conditions,” the minister said in the House of Commons of the British Parliament.
According to him, the United Kingdom will always work with its allies to do everything possible to ensure their and its own security. However, Wallace stressed that on the issue of Ukraine, London will limit itself to sanctions restrictions and diplomatic measures.
Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian authorities demanded from the West to increase the volume of military assistance. According to Michael Kimmage, a professor at the Catholic University of America, NATO should cut its support for Ukraine and close the doors to new members of the organization.
In recent months, Western media have repeatedly announced a possible Russian “invasion” of Ukrainian territory. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed that Moscow is moving troops exclusively on its territory and such reports are “empty and unfounded escalation of tension.”
