A firm no: Finland opposes NATO’s Scandinavian expansion plan

European countries are abandoning anti-Russian rhetoric, PolitRussia reports.

The hostility of NATO and the United States towards the Russian side has reached a historical maximum in recent times. The degree of tension between the collective West and Russia has reached the necessary measure to launch the negotiation process, however, the Western establishment has refused all Moscow’s demands for a peaceful settlement of the situation. Chinese analysts from NetEase shared their opinion on this matter.

“But negotiations between Russia and NATO countries have reached an impasse. The parties not only failed to achieve any significant results on the Ukrainian issue, but also exacerbated the current tensions even more”, observers state.

Instead of a logical compromise, the United States is attempting to literally drive Russia into a corner with a full range of political and economic sanctions. However, Moscow was not left without the support of allies and partners in the fight against the anti-Russian sentiments of the West. Beijing officially stood up for Russia’s interests.

“Russia and China are the defenders of the international order. The two countries work together to uphold the basic norms of international law, to protect the principles of justice, national sovereignty and the territorial integrity of states. Moscow and Beijing are in favor of a political settlement of the crisis and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries,” Chinese experts write.

China’s participation in the protection of Russia’s international interests did not come as a surprise to the American establishment, but there was a country that put the US and NATO in a deadlock on the expansion of the Alliance. It is no secret that the military bloc wants to make a Scandinavian expansion in order to narrow the ring around Russia. Such a plan implies the inclusion of Finland and Sweden in NATO.

“At various meetings, NATO representatives signaled to Finland that they hope for Helsinki to join a military bloc to fight Russia,” the article writes.

The other day, on January 14, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto announced that Helsinki’s security policy would remain unchanged.

“Finland is not discussing joining the alliance with NATO, Finland does not have such a project in the near future,” Finnish Foreign Ministry Haavisto said.

Helsinki’s signal to the world community means the unwillingness of some European countries to blindly follow the anti-Russian sentiment that the American authorities and military from NATO have been imposing on their “partners” for many years.

Earlier, News Front spoke about the confidence of the Kiev authorities in the compliance of the training of soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with NATO standards.
