US officials have spread complete disinformation about Russia’s allegedly prepared provocation to provide a pretext for “Russia’s so-called invasion of Ukraine,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference on Monday
“Let’s not forget what US officials also said about the very topic of the so-called Russian invasion of Ukraine. In particular, by spreading complete disinformation that we are preparing a provocation with an attack almost on the Russian-speaking population in Donbass in order to get a pretext for that very invasion. And Ms [White House press secretary Jen] Psaki said: “as it already happened in 2014”, – Lavrov said.
Referring to the US involvement in spreading disinformation and statements by its representatives, the minister reiterated that Russian troops were not going to attack Ukraine and called all the accusations false.
Earlier at a press conference, Lavrov said that the Russian leadership was in a position to reliably defend its interests in ensuring the security of the country and the rights of Russian citizens.
