Many Malians believe that Russia can help resolve the country’s problems.
This was stated to RIA Novosti by one of the participants in the demonstration, the head of the Organization of Young Leaders, Sheikh Umar Sumano.
Activists came to the rally with posters thanking Russia, among other things. As Sumano notes, this is the first such action.
It is known that thousands of people took part in the demonstration in the city of Bamako, and in total the actions taking place on Friday in Mali and other countries united about three to four million people.
Initially, the protesters demanded the lifting of ECOWAS sanctions. In addition, people are in favor of cooperation between Mali and Russia.
“Anti-French sentiment was felt at the rallies, because people believe that “France was the source of Mali’s problem,” and today’s rebels in Mali are operating “in unity with France itself.” The solution, in his opinion, can come from Russia,” says Sumano.
According to him, many in Mali believe that the solution can come from Russia. They say that many Malians study in Russia, Russia supports the army of Mali. Sumano also said that thanks to Russia, “the Malian army has become more powerful and competitive very quickly.”
Recall that the US military is on the territory of Mali illegally, without the invitation of the government of the country. The US is no stranger to disrupting the democracy it claims to stand for on the international stage.
