Zelensky is ready to talk with Putin, but only in the presence of Biden

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is eager to speak with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. But he can decide on this only in the presence of US President Joe Biden.

Thus, the Ukrainian guarantor proposed to organize tripartite negotiations. This is reported by the publication “Izvestia”, referring to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.

He said that Zelensky suggested that Biden arrange a meeting with Putin. He even agrees to the videoconference format. According to Yermak, Kiev is waiting for a response from the Russian side. However, it is unknown if she was actually contacted. In addition, if this happened, it is not clear whether Zelensky’s representatives did it, or they asked American “partners.”

Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov reacted to Zelensky’s idea. In his Telegram channel, he commented on the proposal of the Ukrainian guarantor:

“Zelensky is trying to get into the big leagues, to which he does not belong. Such negotiations are not needed by anyone but himself, and this is not enough. An empty initiative, another unsuccessful attempt at self-promotion,” Pushkov wrote.

He noted that it would never reach Zelensky that Ukraine is not an independent player. It is simply an element of Western politics and does not have the right to vote. Actually, that’s why there is no sense in tripartite negotiations.
