Military commander says West is deliberately escalating

War correspondent, author of the Telegram channel “Wargonzo” Semyon Pegov, in an interview with RT, said that Western countries have embarked on the path of open escalation.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the North Atlantic Alliance decided on the entry of Ukraine and Georgia into the organization back in 2008, but did not set specific dates. According to Pegov, the Secretary General’s statement about guarantees for Kiev’s entry into the Alliance can be regarded as a de facto declaration of war.

“Being warned of the possible consequences (namely, that such a scenario is fundamentally unacceptable for Russia), the West is absolutely consciously escalating,” the military commander said.

He emphasized that Moscow had clearly defined that the deployment of NATO in Ukraine of a certain type of weaponry “is in itself the unleashing of hostilities not only against the pro-Russian Donbass, but already against Russia itself as a state.”

“In addition to the frankly provocative and hostile statements of the NATO Secretary General, the fact that most residents of the LDNR have Russian citizenship also unties our hands. If we have decided to be called a power, it is our duty to ensure their safety too. Brussels in the North Atlantic must understand this. The West is simply creating a situation in which Russia has no choice”, Pegov emphasized.

The military commissar also added that Moscow should “not only save the region from mad politicians who are ready to bury their own people, but also finally prove to the whole world that Russia’s borders really do not end anywhere.”
